God is good. All the time!
Last weekend we launched our “Dollar Difference” initiative in order to ripple love to others in our community. We committed to allocate $1 for each adult in attendance each weekend from now till the end of the year. We had 892 adults here (almost 1100 in total attendance!) this past weekend. Finance team leader Gary Smith shared that we had hundreds of one dollar bills in the offering! Much more than normal! Come back this weekend to hear how this was allocated to a little girl in our church who can now literally hear about the love of God. We believe that God loves a cheerful giver – even when it’s a church doing it!!
I continue to hear marvelous stories each weekend of how folks are being deployed as chaplains on this Love Revolution. Thanks for serving, loving, and giving like Jesus! I believe with all my heart that we are incrementally, but intentionally, becoming the church He wants us to be.
We have much to be thankful for as a church. Dr. Dale Robbins writes, “I used to think people complained because they had a lot of problems. But I have come to realize that they have problems because they complain!” How true.
I read recently that if you own one Bible, you are abundantly blessed, because a third of the people in the world do not have access to a Bible. If you awoke this morning with more health than illness you are more blessed than 1 million people who will not survive the week. If you have never experienced the danger of war, the loneliness of imprisonment, or the pangs of starvation, you are more fortunate than 500 million people on earth. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head, twenty dollars in your pocket and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75 percent of the world. O God, forgive us when we whine.
This coming weekend will be another great opportunity to thank God for His goodness. The Down East Boys will be sharing at each of our services and also doing a free Encore Concert at 6:30pm Saturday night right after the service is over. Why not attend the 5pm Saturday service and then stay for the concert?? And bring someone with you! I will be sharing some biblical secrets of financial success. Then we gather this Sunday night at 6pm at The Woodlands for our annual Thanksgiving Banquet to celebrate the past year and commit financially for the coming new year. Don’t miss that!
Just an FYI too – If you do happen to miss a weekend service and find yourself in the hospital (or homebound) and want communion brought/served to you, it is available upon request. Please contact the church office.
P.S. The Direct from David will be taking a short hiatus for the next two Wednesdays as I will be taking some vacation. I know you’ll miss it in your inbox. (Yeah, right!) But it will return – I promise.
