I know this is the year of ‘one’ at WCCC, but I have more than one exciting item to tell you about this week!
1. After several months of searching and interviewing candidates, I am pleased to announce that we have extended a call to Gary Coleman to be our new full time Minister of Pastoral Care and Volunteer Involvement. Gary is ‘one of our own’ and has been a member of WCCC for over 30 years! He is a graduate of Cincinnati Christian University (Bachelor of Arts/ Bible degree) and besides serving as a minister at LifeSpring church here in Cincinnati, has also served as Director of Christian Education and Director of Conventions for Standard Publishing. He also worked as a manager for the North American Christian Convention. Gary has served as an adult teacher, leader and elder at WCCC, and has been active in every area of the church. You may recognize Gary as one of our keyboard players in the band as well. In his spare time Gary rides roller coasters nationwide and is a member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts! Gary will be a great addition to our excellent staff team and will oversee Pastoral Care, Volunteer Involvement, Guest services, Benevolence, and Senior Saints. (He will have a full plate!!) Please welcome and pray for Gary as he embarks on this new area of service at WCCC. He will begin February 6th.
2. Our reassignments for Atrium activities worked well last weekend, although we ran out of our new coffee (we went through 27 containers of coffee!). We have ordered a bigger (and faster) delivery system which will be installed in 1 week, so thanks for your patience as we move forward. This church loves good coffee for sure!! Our new children’s check-in kiosks also helped families check-in faster. Several of you have switched from Sunday and are attending at the Saturday service. Thank You! It is so appreciated! We had 1100 in attendance for the weekend with 225 at the Saturday service. Keep inviting (and try to practice this weekend the things we talked about last weekend on how to improve your 1 hour of worship)!
3. As a result of our recent congregational survey, our WCCC leaders are busy these days forming teams and discussing strategies for the 5 Visionary Goals that will keep us healthy and growing. You’ll be hearing more about this as the year unfolds. Please pray for those involved in this vital effort to shape our ministry for the next 3-5 years. Those 5 Visionary Goals are:
o We will increase the assimilation/retention of newcomers and members.
o We will develop a plan and strategy for facility space to accommodate growth
of the church in support of its core mission.
o We will develop leaders and increase volunteers/staff to minister to the
growing spiritual & physical needs of our church and community.
o We will develop a leadership succession plan for the Senior Pastor and other
senior leaders at WCCC.
o We will impact our community by helping meet the physical and spiritual needs
of people in an attempt to lead them to a saving relationship with Jesus.
4. God has blessed us with some phenomenal leaders at WCCC, especially in the Worship area. Paula and the choir were excellent last weekend, and Alisa Childers will be up this weekend. Don’t forget that Michael Boggs, (leading January 29/30 weekend) one of our Artists in Residence will also be doing a free Encore Concert on Saturday, Jan 29 at 6:30pm right after the service (another reason to attend the Saturday service!!) Plan now to attend and invite a friend.
Even with numerous things going on at Whitewater, ‘The ONE’ continues!
P.S. Our email / website host (faithHighway) has relocated their operation this week, so our church email system is working slower than normal. If you are having trouble sending emails to us, keep trying!
