I have some wonderful news to share about finances. Up until this month, we had 2 monthly mortgages we paid on here at church, one small one ($57,291) and one large ($3,138,724). Through the generosity of those contributing to our Bridges campaign, our finance team was able to totally pay off the smaller one yesterday. Yea God! In this economic climate, this is a major feat and testimony to the goodness of God and His people. Now, we will turn our attention to the only one left – $3.1 million. (If anyone feels led to give enough to pay that one off this month, I would love to talk to you!)
I have some wonderful news to share about Upward Basketball/Cheerleading too. Bob “The Commish” Haas reports that we had 67 kids and 30 volunteers participate this season. The concession stand made $750 which went toward deferring the cost of Upward and also providing four scholarships for next year. Devotions were done each week (it’s not really about basketball!) and one of our members provided to each player and coach (at her cost) a CD with individual picture, team picture, and slideshow of action shots during the year. We had an entire football team join so they could work together as a team and one family decided to start attending at WCCC because of coaching Upward! We even had three children with special needs play. I love it! Congratulations Bob and the entire Upward ministry team.
Easter weekend will be wonderful (and here before you know it)! You don’t want to miss ‘The Wall’ at one of our 5 weekend services on April 23/24. We will begin polling this weekend (on the Connection Card) to see what service you are planning on attending to ensure adequate room at each service. We are hoping that half of those currently attending at the regular Saturday 5pm service, will move to 7pm. We are asking that current Sunday 9am service folks move to the 8:30am service, and that half of the current 10:45 service attendees will go to 10am and the other half come to the 11:30am service. Start thinking about which service you will attend, as well as who you plan on inviting. Invite cards will be available April 2/3 weekend for you to use. I know that we also need ‘all hands on deck’ to serve in Children’s ministry that whole weekend. Would you consider attending at one service and serving at another? If you can help, contact Teresa Benjamin (nursery) firstname.lastname@example.org, Sherry Jones (preschool) email@example.com, Becky Thatcher (elementary), firstname.lastname@example.org or Bobbie Schmidt (welcome) email@example.com.
Wonderful Fish will be served at our annual Fish Fry. It is Friday, April 15th. Serving time is 4:00-8:00pm and cost is $7/adult and $4/child. Plan now to come and bring “ONE” more! Buy a ticket for a friend and invite them. Advance tickets will be available for purchase this coming weekend in the Atrium. Volunteers are also needed for one act of service at the fish fry. We are looking for volunteers for Set Up, Tear Down, Refreshments, Kitchen, Greeters, Table greeters, Water and Gas tanks. Sign up at the table in the Atrium.
One of the best women’s conferences in the country is coming to our area this August. (Dare I say wonderful!) Ladies – let me encourage you to join 150 other Whitewater Women, escape from the everyday, and travel to Indianapolis for a Women of Faith weekend filled with laughter, music, drama, and heart-tugging stories. This year’s Women of Faith Conference will be August 19th and 20th. The cost for the conference is $200 and includes the price of your ticket, coach transportation, lodging, and all meals. Tickets are now on sale after all services. Snag ’em fast! A payment of $89 is due to reserve your spot. Purchase your ticket, or pick up additional information at the kiosk outside of the Worship Center. Questions? Contact Marsha Graff at firstname.lastname@example.org or Donna Vaughan at email@example.com.
Although the weather may not be wonderful this Sunday, we are “Making a wonderful difference for 1 community.” We want to serve and love our immediate neighbors at the Westbrook Village Mobile Home Community. We will meet back at the church at 1:00pm after service to get instructions and then venture over to ‘love our neighbor as ourself.’ We will return to the church about 4:00pm for a light supper and fellowship. Please bring work gloves, (maybe snow gloves!), rakes, long-handled grabbers, etc. (Childcare will not be provided).
Enough wonderful for ya!?
P.S. Our Walk Thru the OT seminar was wonderful too (ask someone who was there), and the Tabernacle series continues this coming weekend with the biggest prop we have. It is the Altar of Burnt Offering. You gotta see (and experience) it this weekend. With a friend!
