Donna and I just returned from a quick trip to sunny Orlando, Florida, to attend a wedding for the daughter of my good friend John Hampton and to preach at his growing church (Journey Christian). Good to see how God is moving at that dynamic church. Very Exciting! Good to be back here at WCCC. I heard it was hugely successful here last weekend at the services and especially the Trunk or Treat with 150 volunteers serving over 1500 guests on our campus! (See one of the pumpkins from the night below!)
Our new (paper) Pictorial Directories have been delivered and are here. If you/your family had your picture taken by Olan Mills (or if you submitted one), you can pick up your copy at the Ministry Center in the Atrium this weekend. For a variety of reasons, several members (and even some staff) pictures do not appear in this directory and for that we apologize. In fact, with the growth of the church each week, the paper directory is already out of date! That is why the new online pictorial directory is so important and much more updated. Please use this version (through the website) if you are having trouble locating someone (look under “resources”). A huge thanks to Diane Kist for coordinating this mammoth effort.
We are heading into November and December with a full head of steam at WCCC. Respite Night and the Soul’d Out concert are coming in less than 2 weeks, the Christmas Toy Store is December 2nd, and the Christmas Dessert Theater with Denver Bierman and the Mile High Orchestra is December 16th! Get all those dates on your holiday calendar now!
Looking to Christmas weekend, we are planning on having 4 identical weekend services. We will have 3 Christmas Eve services at 3pm, 5pm, and 11:00pm, and we will have just 1 service on Christmas Day Sunday, at the normal time of 10:45am. We usually take up a special Christmas Eve offering to totally fund our Benevolent Ministry. (We will not do that this year since the weekend offerings will be for regular weekend giving.) We will be utilizing our annual Thank Offering this year for that purpose (the Benevolent Fund). Look for a letter soon from me sharing details about the 2011 Thank Offering.
We are still asking questions around WCCC! How are your Power of 1 Question groups going? I continue to hear marvelous stories from those participating. See you this weekend for the next question. Michael Boggs is leading worship and our choir (fresh from their Love Inc. concert last weekend) will also be singing. Call a friend and ask them to join you. It will be a treat (with no tricks!)
P.S. We received several dozen pictures from our veterans last weekend. If you didn’t bring yours, please do so this weekend!
