Christmas Greetings my email friends. Christmas is almost here! The Dessert Theater is this coming weekend (Friday night) and then Christmas Eve/Day the following weekend. Not many shopping days left!
I read a report today from Nielson revealing what kids most desire for Christmas this year. Seen it yet?
24 percent want an iPad
18 percent want a computer
18 percent want an E-Reader
17 percent want a television
17 percent want a tablet computer
16 percent want a Blu-Ray player
15 percent want an iPhone
14 percent want a Smartphone
12 percent want a Xbox Kinect
9 percent want the Nintendo Wii
9 percent want a Playstation 3
8 percent want an iPod Touch
8 percent want a Microsoft XBox 360
Quite an electronic-driven list! If any of you are looking for a present for your pastor, any of those would do! Just kidding – a Starbucks Card would suffice nicely!
Amazing that we are so close to the end of another year. My, how time flies! For those of you wanting to make a special year-end financial gift to the church, (which many do), let me remind you that all gifts for 2011 must be received by Dec. 31 or given at our Saturday service that night. You can also do an online gift (Online Giving). That’s the same weekend as our annual ‘Ask the Preacher’ Q and A which is always a hit! We will be returning to our normal weekend service times that weekend. Come and close out one year and/or ring in the new one with us!
Speaking of a brand new year – We believe that 2012 will be our most exciting yet as a church! Do you have Sunday night, January 8 on your calendar for our first ever WCCC Vision dessert night at The Woodlands? We want everyone who calls WCCC their church home to be there! There is no charge, and we are now taking reservations for this can’t-miss event! Child care is available for children 6 months thru 4th Grade which will also be at The Woodlands. (Reservations are required by January 2.) Vision Night replaces what has been our Annual Church Meeting. This came about due to a recent change in our church by-laws that aligns the church year to the calendar year. There is nothing to vote on at this meeting. There will be great dessert, but even better community as we gather as one large body to celebrate and hear about ministry plans for next year.
As we move into next year, I also want to share about a staff transition. Bobbie Schmidt will be transitioning out of her part-time administrative assistant position here at WCCC to seek full-time employment. Her last day on staff will be January 11, 2012. She and her family will continue to call Whitewater Crossing their home as they grow in their faith and serve Him. (Bobbie will continue to serve as the WCCC Wedding Coordinator.) We thank Bobbie for her years of service on the WCCC staff.
See you this weekend for another peek at Jesus Family Tree. This weekend we will talk about “The Diversity of His AncesTree.” You might be surprised at what we will find!
P.S. In case you’ve forgotten, Christmas Weekend services will be held on Christmas Eve at 3, 5, and 11:00pm and on Christmas Day at 10:45am. All four services will be identical and families will sit together. (It will be a family style service with something for all ages.) Remember that adult classes will be dismissed on Christmas Weekend and the church office will be closed December 26.
