January 2, 2013
We finished out 2012 at Whitewater last weekend with our annual ‘Ask the Preacher’ format and found time to answer more questions than ever. Thanks for sending and texting them in. For those who want to hear the full version of ‘Text me maybe’, by our own Rachel Sinclair, here it is: vimeo.
A big thanks to Bruce Halfenberg and our facility team of servants who had the parking lot and sidewalks clean/clear of snow for us!!
Thanks to your love and labor for the Lord, we were able to realize 894 first time visitors (who filled out a card), 47 transfers and 89 baptisms in 2012. (Having twice as many baptisms as transfers is a VERY healthy and good thing!) Our average attendance for 2012 was 1225. (It was 1125 in 2011.) Every number has a name and every name has a story.
As we usher in a New Year this week, let’s claim Proverbs 16:3“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Let’s be bold as we embrace The Story. I love what Steven Furtick said – “Most people are not in danger of ruining their lives, they’re in danger of wasting them!” Let’s not waste our opportunities in this New Year to increase the number of people connecting their story to God’s Story, and decrease biblical illiteracy.
There are many approaches God could have used to get His information to us. What He chose to do was to write a Book. This year, we will be in that book. Instead of listening for a voice in the world, we simply need to look for a verse in His Word.
We can’t wait to find our story in HIS Story. And we’d love to capture your story and share it. On January 10, 2013, our goal is to capture 52 stories on video in one night! Simply sign up for a time slot online at whitewatercrossing.org/story.Once you arrive, it will only take a few minutes. It’s that easy. Questions? E-mail Joe.
Don’t forget too that there will be a New Horizons lunch at noon on January 10 at Building 2:42 if you are 55+. A box luncheon and informative program will kick off your first opportunity to get engaged in monthly Christ-centered activities, day trips, recreational activities, and serving opportunities. More info/sign up at the Ministry Center or email Gary Coleman.
This weekend also starts the beginning of our Whitewater Winter Groups campaign. One of the groups offered is Financial Peace University and they will have a Preview Night on Wednesday, January 30, at 6:30pm (Buiding 2:42, room A). First class starts Wednesday, February 6, at 6:30pm and lasts for nine Wednesdays. Contact Chip Day for more info or go to the following link: FPU. Sign-up for all our Winter Groups will be online, as well as at the Ministry Center.
Let the New Year and the Old, Old Story begin!
P.S. We are busy doing the final prep work for our new office expansion and we could sure use some help assembling and moving office furniture today (Wednesday) or tomorrow between the hours of 9 am – 4 pm. (Evening help can also be arranged.) Are any of you available? Training and good coffee/lunch are provided! (Next week, Monday through Thursday time slots are also available.) Please email/call Bruce or Diane at the office if you’re interested.
