What’s YOUR Story?

I’m not sure I fully understand what God is up to these days, but in the first two months of The Story, we are setting all-time attendance records at Whitewater. I know it’s not the preaching (!), so I am going with the theory that the weekly reading, worshipping, grouping, even confessing on the wall, is paying off big time! Each week I hear of more and more people finding their story in God’s story. Keep at it. Even the snow cannot stop The Story!

Easter is coming and we want to be ready to tell His Story (and Jack Cooper’s too)!

We are planning for another record-breaking Easter Celebration on March 30/31 weekend, so we are offering six services: Saturday, March 30 @ 3 and 5pm; and Sunday, March 31 @ 8:00, 9:30, 11:30am, and 1pm. I can already tell from the first week’s polling (please do that on your Connection Card this weekend if you didn’t do it yet), that Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 9:30 and 11:30 will be our largest services – as we expected. So if any of you could attend at 3pm Saturday, or 8am Sunday, or 1pm Sunday to create maximum space at other premium times, that would be very helpful.

Adding two additional worship gatherings on one weekend sounds like a lot of work . . . because it is! But we are committed to providing as many opportunities as we can to tell as many others as we can about The Story of Jesus. Because of that, we need your help. We are asking you to worship at one service AND serve at another.

Our Easter weekend will require “all hands on deck.”  We need 1000+ servants to pull it off with excellence (especially in children’s ministry, guest services, and facilities). If you are currently serving on a weekend team, contact your ministry leader to schedule which service(s) you will serve. If you are not currently serving God here at Whitewater, we’d love for you step up and sign up online (Easter). Easter training is provided to make it easy and answer all your questions.

How are you doing on Inviting? Plan to invite at least one person every day to one of the six worship gatherings. People are so receptive to an invitation at Easter! Take the risk and invite. Use the Jack Cooper Invite Cards at the Ministry Center or the new E-Vite link.

Could I also ask you to bring generous offerings from now till Easter? I mentioned last weekend that while attendance is up, offerings are a bit slow out of the gate this year. (And I don’t want to engage in any sequestration for our church budget!) We are investing financially in Easter and The Story this year (we have literally given away thousands of Bibles!) and as we head toward summer, attendance and giving usually take a dip. Your investment now helps us tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love in fresh and powerful ways.

Don’t forget to purchase your tickets for the Fish Fry (March 22) in the Atrium this weekend. Leverage it to invite your family/friends who are not attending a church regularly. I hear that we are good for volunteers to work the fish fry, but we do need some full propane tanks and lots of bottled water. Please bring those to church with you next time you come and leave them at the Fish Fry Table in the Atrium.

Several staff items to share with you this week: Part-time Minister of Counseling/Recovery, Adam Bockhorst,  is resigning his position here in order to accept a full time position as Family Services Coordinator for Life Center Organ Donor Network. Adam shared that it has been an honor to serve Jesus by ministering to the faith community of Whitewater over the past 5 ½ years, and the church has been a blessing to him and his family.

We rejoice with/for Adam and Christa, but will miss Adam’s steady presence and gentle spirit. His wisdom, care, and counsel have served the Lord and Whitewater well during his tenure here. Adam’s last day will be March 29th. Over the next month, Adam will develop transition plans and referrals for current clients to ensure continuity of care, as well as our Marriage Mentoring program. Down the road, Adam hopes/plans on opening up his own professional Christian counseling practice in a very limited, part-time capacity.

We are pleased to announce that we have filled 3 part-time facilities positions we’ve been interviewing for. They will be so helpful in supporting our rapid growth. We welcome the following to the Whitewater Team: Event Host – Brenda Frank, Lawn & Grounds Associate – Dylan Turner, and Facility Setup Associate – Duane Wallace. Although you may not know/see them, you will benefit greatly from their labor.

SO excited about all that God is doing in this church. And the best is yet to come!

P.S. Don’t forget that you need to set your clocks FORWARD 1 hour this coming Saturday night (another advantage to coming to the Saturday service this week!).
