5 Things better than the Olympics

February 12, 2014

1) Tyler McKenzie’s sermon. He hit a homerun last weekend as he continued our First series from Genesis! He helped us move out of the land of ‘Er’ to realize that God really is enough. Snow was everywhere (again!) and you may not have been able to be here, so catch it online like hundreds of others do each week. (You probably have lots to discuss in your small group this week too!)

2) Roddy Chong this weekend. We will explore the First mention of the word Worship in the Bible, (may surprise you where and how it occurs!) and we will welcome the internationally acclaimed musician Roddy Chong who will share his testimony, as well as his gift of music. There could not be a better week to do your best inviting! In fact, you want to bring your friends to church to hear it, because it will only be live and not on the website later.

3) Denver’s upcoming Encore concert. The worship music continues on Saturday, March 1st at 6:30pm (following the 5pm Saturday worship gathering), with our very own Denver Bierman who is bringing his Mile High Orchestra with him to do a special concert just for us. They have a brand new record out called “Mile High Hymns” that is very, very good!

4)  Easter weekend is now only 66 days away!! It is April 19/20, and we’re already busy planning! We will have six weekend gatherings this year on Easter (two on Saturday and four on Sunday). Our special guest for that weekend will be Joe Castillo, a sand artist who was a finalist on the show America’s Got Talent. Check him out.

5) The Mark Koerner scholarship golf tourneyMark was a beloved teacher and elder here who went to heaven in October of 2012. Tourney registration is now open and will fill up fast! I know April sounds like a long way away with snow and ice still on the ground, but in faith, I’m claiming green grass and warm sun soon! (His ‘Pride Pledge’ and effort to honor him at his former school was recently featured in the Enquirer.)

I know the Olympic events are awesome right now, but the above things are even better because they provide easy, strategic, and gold medal opportunities to grow in Christ.

See you on the podium this weekend!
